Tongue-Suicide

313 August 19 – Toni Morrison’s legacy is a beautiful demonstration of the power of language. In her 1993 Nobel Prize acceptance speech she analyzed the dangers of “tongue-suicide.” Tongue-suicide is the “rousing language to keep citizens armed and arming; slaughtered and slaughtering in the malls, courthouses, post offices, playgrounds, bedrooms and boulevard.”

That’s where we start our dialogue today. How do we heal and recover from tongue-suicide?
